Life is busy. Sometimes you just need to take a pause! An option to pause can be a much needed feature, in online Tests, quizzes and exams.

ClassMarker offers the option to save quiz progress and resume at a later time. You have the option of requiring that the Test be completed in one sitting or you can allow users the option of saving the Test to resume at a later time. This setting in ClassMarker is called ‘Save and Resume Later’.

There are two ways to give your Tests in ClassMarker - via Groups or Links. You can use the 'Save and Resume Later' option, for both Groups and Links, to resume quiz questions.

Groups: Your users log in to a Test taker account, in order to take all Tests made available to them.

Links: Users will take their Test via a Link provided to them from within an email, a link clicked on from within a website, blog, social media site or from going to your website where you have embedded your Test.

Did you Know: If you have a lengthy Test where users are able to go in and out of a quiz attempt in progress over a long period of time, you can also select an option that enables users to go back to previous Test pages as a refresher, to review previously answered questions and optional learning materials you have added.

How to select ’Save and Resume Later’ with Groups

  1. Go to your Test 'settings' page
  2. Under section Taking Test, click on Resume Later
  3. Check the box beside Allow save and resume later
  4. Save Changes at bottom of page

Users who have an email address registered to their account, can retrieve their login details, if forgotten by going to the ‘Forgot Details’ page. These details (username and/or password) will be sent to their email. If they do not have an email address on their account, you as the administrator can provide them with their username or a new password.

Users will go to the Test link and click on ‘Start’ to begin a Test. They will enter an email address and create a password. When they resume a Test they have in progress, they will click on ‘Resume’ and enter that same email address and password, to pick up right where they had left off.

With Links, users who forget their login details to resume a started Test attempt can click on the ‘Forgot Password’ link in order to have a password reset sent.

How do timers work with Save and Resume Later?

When using ’Save and Resume Later’ with a timer, the timer will only record the time that a user is in the Test.

Example; Let’s say you have a timer set to 60 minutes. A user begins their Test and is in it for 20 minutes, before saving it. The next time they log in, they will have 40 minutes left. With ‘Save and Resume Later’, the timer will stop when the Test is saved. The timer will begin again, when the Test is resumed.

View Results of Tests that are still in progress:

Not only can you analyze quiz reports for Tests that have been completed, you can view the results for those Tests that are still in progress. When users do save their Tests to resume later, you can go into a user’s individual results page and view all answers given up until when they had left the Test.

Whether you require a Test that needs to be completed in one sitting or an exam that can be saved, to continue at a later time, choose ClassMarker. We offer the best online quiz website, to meet all of your Testing needs.
