Creating Difficulty Levels for a Quiz

Question: How Do I Create Difficulty Levels for my Quiz Questions?Answer: When you create your own quiz with ClassMarker, creating questions with different difficulty levels is pretty easy! You do this by making categories within your question bank, to add your questions in. Let's have a look at how this is done!
When you add questions into ClassMarker, you can add questions right into your question bank (where all of your questions are stored) or add questions right into a Test. When you add questions into a Test, these are also added into your question bank automatically, to use across other Tests.
All of the questions you add are private to your account only! Actually, ALL data you add to your account is private to your account only. ClassMarker takes security and privacy seriously, for all data for both you and your Test takers! You decide on how you wish to share this data with, we don't!
When you create question categories, there are Parent Categories and Sub-Categories. Think of parent categories as the heading for better sorting and categorizing and sub-categories where your questions go.
Let's look at an example of how to categorize quiz questions by difficulty.
Easy < Parent Category
- Addition < Sub-category
- Subtraction < Sub-category
- Division < Sub-category
- Multiplication < Sub-category
- Spelling < Sub-category
- Grammar < Sub-category
Medium < Parent Category
- Addition < Sub-category
- Subtraction < Sub-category
- Division < Sub-category
- Multiplication < Sub-category
- Spelling < Sub-category
- Grammar < Sub-category
And so on.
FYI: Only the sub-category names will be displayed to Test takers if you show them the category names. So if you wish the type of question to be displayed, you could do something as above. Users taking your Tests would then only see at the top right of each question, 'Addition' or 'Grammar' for example.
If you want instead to show the difficulty level, you could do something as below and have the difficulty level by the sub-category.
Addition < Parent Category
- Easy < Sub-category
- Medium < Sub-category
- Hard < Sub-category
Subtraction < Parent Category
- Easy < Sub-category
- Medium < Sub-category
- Hard < Sub-category
When creating your Test, you can then add existing questions from the question bank to add into your Test. These are called fixed questions, which are the same questions that always display for each user.
ClassMarker also can have randomly selected questions, which will pull questions at random from your chosen categories, from within the question bank. Each time the Test is taken, it will be a different set of questions pulled. This is a great option for randomly selecting easy, medium and hard questions, to display on your Tests, Quizzes, Surveys, Assessments and Exams.
After Tests are taken, you can view results by category per individual. You can also choose to show the category results (optional) to users taking your Tests. If selected, the category results will show on the individual user results pages, which will include the percentage per category.
ClassMarker Tip: You can set up your Test to increase the difficulty of quiz questions as users progress through the Test. Because with ClassMarker you can specify the order of fixed questions, you can drag these into the order you require. You can do something such as all Easy Questions first, then Medium Questions and so on. If using randomly selected questions, you can group these by category so the questions automatically go into the Test by category.
ClassMarker has multiple features and settings, for you to create a quiz with difficulty levels, with many options, for you to set up your Tests your way!
